The Challenge:
Members of San Antonio Garden Center create fresh flower arrangements with flowers they see for the first time the morning of Festival of Flowers

If you love fresh flower arrangements, and want to learn how to make your own designs, then be sure to stop by the Floral Design Challenge, presented by San Antonio Garden Center.

On the morning of the show, members arrive with their containers and select their flowers from a beautiful collection donated by San Antonio Flower Co. They have 90 minutes to create their designs—they welcome visitors and will explain their techniques while they work.

Once the designs are completed, they will be on display and visitors can vote on their favorite.

If you would like to participate in the Challenge, contact anne@anneschiller.com. Click here for entry guidelines.

SA Garden Center offers two Floral Design Schools each year—3 classes in Fall and 3 classes in Spring.  Be sure to pick up information about the school and even sign up to receive more information closer to class dates.

Garden Center is a non-profit organization and an umbrella for more than 2 dozen area garden clubs and plant societies.  Membership is also open to individuals who would like to join Gardeners at Large.

Monthly meetings and programs are open to the public at 9:30am on the 1st Wednesday of each month, September through May at 3310 N. New Braunfels (at Funston) next to the San Antonio Botanical Garden. Meetings also include a coffee social and pass-along plant exchange.

In addition to the Floral Design Schools, other annual events include an Annual Plant Sale, Annual Flower Show, Annual Scholarship Luncheon and Style Show and its annual garden therapy project, Operation Christmas Cheer.
